HUF X SLAP COLLABORATION // NOW AVAILABLE

HUF X SLAP COLLABORATION | SLAP Magazine was founded by Lance Dawes and produced through High Speed Productions as a monthly skateboarding publication from 1992 through 2008. Working as a darkroom technician at Thrasher Magazine, Dawes was given creative control to develop a sister publication under High Speed as an alternative outlet to the standard skateboarding magazines of the time. Created at the dawn of a new era of skateboarding, SLAP has earned its role as innovator amongst skate media by maintaining a focus that extends beyond just skateboarding – SLAP presents a complete look at the entire lifestyle of a skateboarder, with content ranging across subjects as diverse as music, art, news, gossip, and personalities. Run strictly by and for skaters through a non-corporate company, SLAP embodies the DIY aesthetic of skateboarding while simultaneously redefining and advancing the principles of what a skateboarding magazine is and does. In 2008, SLAP became the first established name in skateboarding to make the leap to online media – to this day, the SLAP message board retains its unofficial title as skateboarding’s democratic voice throughout the online community.

This Spring 2016 HUF pays homage to SLAP with an exclusive collaboration consisting of a co-branded Classic Hi shoe, coaches jacket, fleece, l/s tee, t-shirts, hats, beanies, socks, and pins. Incorporating classic SLAP logos and graphics throughout the range, the HUF x SLAP capsule features milestone cover photos applied to tees, including an iconic Mike Carroll photo shot by Lance Dawes that appeared on the cover of SLAP’s first issue.
